Using the Feedline Calculator

Use the Feedline Calculator to estimate coaxial cable loss at a frequency and run length, and to estimate power at the antenna after that loss. The result depends on the selected cable data and the assumptions you enter.

Enter the cable run

  1. Select the cable type. Use Custom cable only when the cable’s loss data is available.
  2. Enter operating frequency and cable length, choosing feet or metres.
  3. Optionally enter transmitter input power to calculate estimated power at the antenna.
  4. Enter the number of connectors and loss per connector if you want connector loss included. Leave connector count at zero to see cable loss alone.
  5. Use the comparison control to compare a second feeder under the same conditions.

Read and reuse the result

Review total cable loss in dB, loss per 100 ft where shown, and the estimated antenna power and percentage. Confirm whether connector loss is included before copying the value into the System Builder. Copy results or download CSV for your records.

Limits: The calculator interpolates published cable-loss data or applies the displayed manufacturer formula. It is a planning estimate; installed loss also depends on connector count and condition, cable age, temperature, and installation. Measure the installed run when the link budget depends on a precise value.
