Building a Commissioning Record

The Commissioning Record organizes measurements taken after installation with the context needed to interpret them: where each measurement was taken, what equipment was installed, the conditions, and any differences from the released configuration.

Identify the installation

Enter the site, the released configuration the installation was built to, and the measurement date. If this record corrects an earlier record, include its saved ID when available.

Record each measurement

Add one row per measurement. Select what was measured (for example VSWR, return loss, insertion loss, rejection, isolation, transmitter power, receiver sensitivity, or desense), then identify the path or port and the reference plane. Enter the value and frequency or sweep range, the criterion you were working to, conditions, and any explanatory note.

The reference plane matters: a reading at the equipment end of a feedline includes that feedline, while a reading at the antenna port with the feedline disconnected does not. Record the actual setup so another engineer can compare like with like.

Record equipment and deviations

List the instrument and calibration date, plus installed components by role, model, and serial number. Add any substitutions or other deviations from the released configuration and note relevant conditions. Build the record, then copy or download it for your project file.

Limits: Recording a measurement does not declare the installation acceptable. A criterion entered is the criterion used for that measurement, not a Telewave acceptance limit. Request engineering review for acceptance.
